Andrey Esionov: humanity in motion
Neo-Nomads and Autochthons presented the work of painter Andrey Esionov, born in Tashkent in 1963 and active in contemporary Russian figurative art.
The title came from Esionov’s Neo-Nomads cycle, which looks at humanity in movement, from major migration flows to mass tourism. Rather than adopting the viewpoint of those who leave or those who receive them, the artist approaches the subject from the perspective of an outsider, highlighting contradictions and paradoxes.
The exhibition included 42 works from eight series of watercolours, offering a critical, surreal and often sharp reflection on contemporary metropolitan life and the people who inhabit it.
The exhibition was curated by Alexander Borovsky, organised in collaboration with the Russian Academy of Arts and presented with free admission.
