Material Horizons: a tribute to Sergio Scatizzi
Material Horizons was an exhibition devoted to the Tuscan master Sergio Scatizzi, who died in Florence in 2009.
The selection included historical works from the 1940s to the 1960s, together with still lifes, landscapes and flowers. The critical text accompanying the exhibition emphasised the strongly material quality of Scatizzi’s painting: dense, warm earth colours, thick brushstrokes and a palette moving through ochre, green, gold and bronze.
