June 24th is the day of the patron saint of Florence. That day is characterized by events of all kinds that take place throughout the day: flag-wavers, historical parade, competitions between rowing clubs along the Arno and fireworks (the famous “fochi”).
The highlight of the day is however dedicated to the evening, when starting from about 22, the patron saint of Florence is greeted with the famous fireworks (or also called in Florentine “Fochi”). The best place to see them is certainly from the Ponte Santa Trinita, from there you can see the Ponte Vecchio in the foreground and the fireworks behind, with their spectacular games and colors.
