Van Gogh and the “cursed” artists in an immersive show
Van Gogh & the Cursed was a 60-minute digital experience created by Crossmedia Group and directed by Stefano Fake. High-definition images were projected in 360 degrees across the architecture of the former church, accompanied by an original Dolby HD soundtrack.
The show centred on the human and artistic story of Vincent van Gogh and placed it alongside the lives and works of Paul Cézanne, Paul Gauguin, Henri de Toulouse-Lautrec, Chaïm Soutine and Amedeo Modigliani, artists connected by unconventional lives and highly personal forms of expression.
The experience also included an introductory educational section, virtual-reality stations and a mirrored room designed to surround visitors with moving images.
The project marked a new phase for the former church of Santo Stefano al Ponte, renamed the Cattedrale dell’Immagine for its immersive multimedia programme.
